Ford will start offering free adapters to owners to plug into Tesla charging points

International Energy Network learned that on January 31, Ford Motor Company CEO Jim Farley said that it will begin to provide owners with free adapters to access Tesla charging piles in the United States and Canada.

It is reported that on August 16, 2023, Texas in the United States approved a plan to force electric vehicle charging companies to use Tesla’s charging standards in their charging stations, so as to be eligible for federal fund support. It is worth mentioning that in May 2023, Ford and General Motors announced plans to adopt Tesla's NACS standard, which caused an uproar throughout the automotive industry and prompted more car manufacturers and charging companies to accept this technology.

Through these cooperation, Tesla charging ports will occupy 60% of the US electric vehicle market. Revenue from Tesla's charging network is expected to reach approximately $9.65 billion (approximately RMB 70.2 billion) by 2032, with more than half of sales coming from other electric vehicle manufacturers using the network.

In fact, as early as November 2021, Tesla began to launch the "Super Charging Station Pilot Opening Plan" globally. As of 2023, Tesla has opened its charging network to non-Tesla vehicle users in 18 countries and regions. In this regard, Musk said that opening the charging network to non-Tesla brand vehicles can encourage more owners to use electric vehicles, which supports our mission of promoting new energy.
